How to Release Job Packets in Epicor Kinetic
Job packet release gets firm jobs and their material to the shop floor. Production control finds jobs needing material, allocates each material line to a lot and bin, releases the material to the Material Queue, releases the jobs, and hands the floor a packet with the pick list and job travelers.
A clean packet means operators start on time with the right lot in hand. This guide follows the recording step by step: three jobs and five material lines taken from a Fulfillment Workbench BAQ through to an emailed release packet.

Watch the full workflow
every click in this recording is an AI agent — no one is touching the keyboard.
In the recording, an AI agent opens Epicor Kinetic and runs the FW-JobsNeedingMtl BAQ in Fulfillment Workbench, returning 5 material rows across jobs 014823, 014827 and 014831. It allocates each line to a lot/bin using a FIFO rule, releases the 5 lines to the Material Queue, prints the Material Queue Report, releases each job in Job Status Maintenance, prints job travelers with allocated lots and bins, merges the PDFs into one packet and emails it to Shop Floor Leads with an audit summary saved.

Rules, exceptions and controls
Rules to follow
- Allocate FIFO: the oldest lot that covers the full required quantity, warehouse MAIN.
- Allocation quantity equals the required quantity on each material line.
- Release material before releasing jobs, so travelers print with allocated lots and bins.
- Material Queue Report: Released material only, with lot/bin detail printed.
- Job Traveler: Released jobs only, with materials and operations included.
When something doesn't match
- BAQ returns no jobs: the run ends with nothing to process.
- No lot covers the full required quantity: the line cannot be allocated under the FIFO rule and needs a person's decision.
- Job not yet Engineered/Firm: it cannot be released and stays with production control.
- Jobs missing a drawing or work instruction go back to production control before release.
Controls and audit trail
- Released This Session grid in Job Status Maintenance logs job, user and time.
- Audit summary saved for every run.
- Travelers carry lot verification and first-article inspection notes to the floor.
- Material Queue report and travelers cross-check: every traveler material line should appear on the pick list.
Practitioner tips
- Save the jobs-needing-material query as a BAQ so every shift starts from the same list.
- Check that every document type the packet needs is present before you send it.
- Make sure the traveler prints with the current drawing revision; route jobs missing a drawing or instruction to production control.
- Put the Material Queue report first in the packet so material handlers can start staging immediately.
About this recording
In the recording, the agent ran the BAQ, allocated and released material for 5 lines across 3 jobs, released the jobs, printed the Material Queue report and travelers, and emailed the merged packet to Shop Floor Leads.
Documented the way you'd train a new hire — and the same way an agent learns it.
Frequently asked questions
How do you release a job packet in Epicor Kinetic?
Find jobs needing material in Fulfillment Workbench, allocate and release their material, print the Material Queue report, set each job to Released in Job Status Maintenance and print the job travelers. Combine the documents into one packet for the shop floor.
How does lot/bin allocation work in Fulfillment Workbench?
For each job material line you pick a lot and bin and enter an allocation quantity. In the recording the rule is FIFO: the oldest lot that covers the full required quantity in warehouse MAIN.
What is the Material Queue Report used for?
It is the pick list for released material, showing each job/assembly/material, quantity, from-bin, lot and destination operation so material handlers can stage it.
How do you release a job in Job Status Maintenance?
Open the job, confirm it is Engineered and Firm, check Released and save. The job then shows status Released and can print on travelers limited to released jobs.
Can an AI agent do job packet release in Epicor Kinetic?
Yes. As shown in the video, the agent works the same Kinetic screens a person does, from the BAQ through allocation, job release and travelers, and emails the finished packet to the shop floor leads.
