Where SyteLine stops and the screen work starts
SyteLine gives small and midsize manufacturers one place for orders, jobs, purchasing and the floor, built on IDOs that every form reads and writes. Reaching those IDOs from outside takes a developer, a REST API Wizard run and someone to own the code. The web and smart clients behave differently, and the Job Packet still prints paper tickets that someone keys back in as unposted job transactions.
What agents do in SyteLine
-
Customer Orders
Keys the customer's PDF PO, maps customer item numbers and stops on any price outside the list.
-
Purchase Order Lines
Updates due dates from supplier confirmations inside your auto-accept band; outside it, the buyer decides.
-
Unposted Job Transactions
Checks each shift's rows against the traveler scan before anyone posts.
-
Job Orders
Reads status and remaining operations for the daily expedite list.
-
Both clients
Uses the smart client on Windows for forms the web client lacks, such as BOM Import Builder.
-
Multi-site
Switches sites as its own checked step, so nothing lands in the wrong site.
The apps around it

Questions
Web client or smart client?
The one your people use for that form. One workflow can use both, step by step.
Can the agent call ION API instead of forms?
Yes, where IT has published the IDO endpoint and granted access. Unpublished IDOs stay on the forms.
Do we still need Factory Track?
Yes. It captures labor at the source. The agent covers cells still on paper and works the error queue behind both.
