Where Vista stops and the screen work starts

Vista is strong at multi-entity accounting and heavy HR and payroll, and its forms (JC Jobs, PR Employees, SL Subcontracts) are where your clerks do most of the work. The Vista API is sold only to cloud-hosted customers, and IM imports load clean flat files with lighter checks than keyed entry. So the subcontractor PDF, the foreman's notes and the portal upload still land on a person. Hosted Vista also arrives through Remote Desktop as a picture, which stops selector-based bots cold.

What agents do in Vista

The agent works in the Vista login or Remote Desktop session you already have, reading the screen like a person. Product →

Daily logs

Turn sign-in sheets and crew reports into PM Daily Logs entries and check headcount against the sign-in count.

Cost projections

Read each project manager's Excel forecast and enter it on PM Cost Projections for the controller to approve.

Import exceptions

Run the AP Textura Subcontract Invoices import, then fix and key every row flagged in IM Work Edit.

Certified payroll

Export the LCPtracker report for each certified job and upload it to the portal.

Submittals

Match the PM Submittal Register to the Procore log, spec number by spec number.

Month-end job cost

Export the monthly job cost set and tie committed and actual cost to the forecast workbook.

Questions

Can an on-premises Vista customer buy the Vista API?

Trimble names only cloud-hosted customers as eligible. On-premises automation runs through imports, report exports and the forms, which is where the agent works.

Does the agent work inside a hosted Vista session?

It is designed to: it reads the image the session sends and types through it like a person. Hosted setups differ, so prove it on your own session during a demo.

Is an IM import safer than an agent keying the form?

The import is faster for volume; keyed entry runs checks that batch import skips. A common split is to import the clean majority and let the agent key and verify the exceptions.
